But Georges, 30, has now claimed he was left blindsided by 32-year-old Peggy's split statement.

He wrote on Instagram: "Wasn't expecting a statement from Peggy regarding the situation.

"I'm heartbroken by our break up and also trying to come to terms with life without Peggy.

"I appreciate a lot of you have questions but I won't be talking about this situation as of yet."

Georges then thanked his followers for their messages of support.

Yesterday Peggy broke the news of their split, telling fans the break-up had "affected her mental health".

She said: "I'm so sorry I've been quiet on socials everybody but there's a reason for my silence.

"Me and Georges are no longer together and I'm absolutely heartbroken.

"It's affected my mental health and it's taken me weeks to come to terms with it but with it being Valentine's Day, I can't pretend to be OK."

The split no doubt came as a shock to fans as Georges previously revealed they had spoken about having children.

He told Closer: "The plan is to have children.

"Obviously we've got to stay together, move in together and get engaged.

"She lives at home, I live at mine.

"I'd have her move in with me, but she has so much stuff."

Georges and Peggy were hit with split rumours in December when Peggy was out partying with her MAFS co-stars, and Georges was nowhere to be seen.

Their co-stars Erica Roberts and Jordan Gayle had previously dubbed their relationship 'fake'.

Jordan told The Sun: “I just don't believe Peggy and Georges as a couple.

“I didn't believe in them at the time, and I know I said earlier about the editing not always being what it seems but, in Peggy and Georges’ case, it did seem accurate."

Meanwhile Georges recently had his say on MAFS co-star JJ Slater's relationship with Katie Price.

He insisted: "She'll end up heartbroken because he definitely won't be in it for the long run."
