Masked Singer fans convinced Air Fryer is Coronation Street’s ‘most hated’ character after spotting a string of clues

THE Masked Singer fans are convinced a Coronation Street villain is the celebrity behind the culinary costume.

Up until now, the identity of the star behind the costume has remained a mystery.

While guesses are varied, some viewers think the celebrity behind the mask is actress Wendi Peters.

Fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on who it could be.

One wrote: "Think this could be Wendi Peters. Thought it was Keala Settle until the "sister act" clue...I'm sure she's joining the cast of Sister act in the West End. Hope I'm right, she's an amazing actress & singer."

A second added: "Wendi Peters, she was in bake-off, she going into sister act, and in clues she had bling on her air fryer, Cilla in coronation street always wore sparkly outfits. Also, there was a star on the floor, she did stars in your eyes."

It comes following a string of clues in recent The Masked Singer episodes after the character belted out Ava Max's track, Kings and Queens.

The device previously said: "Dressed to impress, but these sparkles cost extra."

The character also performed with a star on the floor which could be a reference to when her Corrie character Cilla left for Last Vegas after coming into money following the death of Frank Nichols.

Additional clues point to her involvement in the West End tour of Sister Act, and the costume seen appearing from a kitchen, possibly referencing her stint in Bake Off.

Wendi is best known for her role as Cilla Battersby Brown in Corrie between 2003–2007 and again in 2014.

Cilla was the love interest of the iconic character Les Battersby after his split from wife Janice - played by actress Vicky Entwistle.

The mum of one also starred in BBC One's Doctors and ITV's Midsomer Murders.

She was a series regular in CBBC’s Hetty Feather as Cook Jenkins.

Alongside her screenwork, Wendi's many stage credits include You Are Here, Bang Bang, White Christmas, Quartet, Oh, What A Lovely War! and Rutherford & Son.

Previously, we reported how fans gushed "that voice is unmistakeable" as they guessed Keala Settle is behind the mask.

Fellow Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson has also been a name in the frame that has been thrown into the mix.

Other guesses have included Great British Menu star Andi Oliver.
