One Day has already been turned into a film starring Anne Hathaway, but now Netflix has produced a 10-part limited series - and fans are seriously impressed.

The new One Day adaptation series, starring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall, has a 94% Rotten Tomatoes rating and has been hailed as the ‘perfect adaptation’ by fans.

The adaptation of David Nicholls' novel was released on Netflix’s platform on Thursday, and it tells the 20-year love story of Emma Morley, played by Amika and Dexter Mayhew, played by White Lotus actor Leo.

In the series, Emma and Dexter end up introducing themselves to each other on July 15, 1988, the night of their Edinburgh University graduation.

They go their separate ways the following day, but in the novel and TV series, viewers caught up with them on the same day every year.

Throughout each episode, Dexter and Emma are seen getting a year older on this one specific date.

Viewers of the series witnessed the couple moving in together and then away from each other, experiencing joy and heartbreak while trying to fight for their love.

The novel concluded with a flashback to Emma and Dexter's first meeting, revealing everything that occurred on that fateful first day of their relationship, while the 2011 film ended similarly, with the two planning to remain good friends.

However, the new Netflix series has a twisted, heart-breaking ending where Emma dies young after a fatal car accident.

After watching the show, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) and discussed how they felt about the ending.
