The Sun can reveal Jamie Glover has joined the cast as Holby’s newest Clinical Lead Patrick Onley, who is a trauma surgeon turned ED consultant.

Jamie, 54, is no stranger to the hospital wards, having appeared in Casualty's now-axed sister show Holby City in various guest roles over the past two decades.

The Londoner is best known for his role as Andrew Treneman in the Beeb's school-based drama Waterloo Road.

He also played Princess Diana's private secretary in series five of Netflix's smash-hit historical drama The Crown.

Speaking about joining the TV emergency department, Jamie said: "I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be working with such a dedicated, skilful group of people who care so passionately about the minutiae of each episode as well as the show’s wider impact.

"Casualty is quite rightly considered a national treasure. And it is a privilege to board the bus for a part of its journey.”

Meanwhile, Killing Eve star Manpreet Bachu will also join the Casualty team alongside comedian Sammy T Dobson.

The pair will join A&E as junior doctors Tariq Hussein and Nicole Piper, with Tariq being the cousin to Holby’s resident doctor, Rash Masum (Neet Mohan).
