The latest episode of the much-awaited second series of the ITV drama aired this week, and viewers were eager to see what would happen next

However, one particular scene on Trigger Point seemed to have them baffled and demanding an explanation.

During the instalment, Lana returned to the UK from Estonia after training those heading to the Ukrainian front line for a presentation about London's terror threat.

Her speech ended up being interrupted by a huge terror incident just a few minutes away from where she was.

She ended up racing against the clock to diffuse explosives attached to a gate, throwing her helmet off in the process and saving the day with just one second to spare.

After watching the episode, baffled fans took to X(Twitter) and ranted about why Lana split second decision in such a dangerous scenario.

One user wrote: "I'm loving series 2 of #triggerpoint, but I've noticed how Lana takes her helmet off just as she's about to deal with high explosives / fiddle with bombs".

Another added: "Lana puts bomb-proof helmet on. Enters room. Finds bomb. Removes helmet. #TriggerPoint."

A third typed: "Why did she take her helmet off, though, when deactivating a bomb - surely that’s a bit daft?"

Vicky has now explained why Lana takes off her helmet during a bomb deactivation.

She revealed: "I had to keep explaining that if she kept it on and the bomb went off that close, it wouldn't protect her. If she takes it off, it is less distracting and won't knock a potential device or obscure her vision."

The 40-year-old also disclosed that she was given the option to wear a lighter costume version of the uniform for the role or to wear the actual heavy and 'not comfy' uniform supplied to expos.

Vicky told the press: "It's not comfy. It's warm, and I hate being cold, so that I am always grateful for.

"There was a choice this season where costume said, 'We could make something for you', because it's so incredibly heavy.”

She concluded: “I said no, I just feel like I'm an actor when they shout cut, I can just take the helmet off.

"I think it's important for us to show the real deal," she explained.

'absolute garbage' rage ITV Trigger Point viewers as they 'switch off' just minutes into series two opener

The second series of Trigger Point started on January 28, nearly two years after season one ended.

However, viewers ripped into season one's "waste of time" finale after a "dreadful and predictable" bombing twist.

The six-part ITV drama concluded on February 27 with Lana finally figuring out who was behind the bomb threats of The Crusaders, a white supremacist group.

Unfortunately, the final left fans divided, with some branding the resolution a 'cop out' and 'let down'.
