KATE Garraway has recalled the moment her husband passed away - as she revealed the brave response from her son.
The presenter, 56, briefly returned to Good Morning Britain today for a moving interview just three days after her beloved Derek Draper's funeral.
During the emotional chat with her colleagues Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley, Kate bravely spoke of the moment she was told Derek had succumbed to his illness.
After a four-year battle, nurses had to break it to Kate on January 3 that her husband had sadly passed.
Recalling that moment and having to tell her children Darcey, 17, and Billy, 14, she said: "I was with Derek when they said they didn't think he'd last a day.
"I told the children factually and said have you any questions? The first thing Darcey said was 'How are you mum?'

"I said 'Gosh that's a lovely question thank you for asking'."
Kate revealed how Billy instantly supported her and his sister.
Tearing-up she added: "I said 'Dad has gone'. Billy said 'I'm so sorry mum'.
"They've really taken on a caring role. I'm so proud of them for that."
