DON'T MESS WITH HIM

Rylan lifts the lid on his brutal new reality show Hot Mess Summer that left contestants speechless

Rylan also reveals the real reason he left It Takes Two in September

RYLAN CLARK is ditching some of his Mr Nice Guy image for reality series Hot Mess Summer.

He is the host for Prime Video’s new show in which eight party-loving single people fly off to Greece.

They head for party island Zante in the series that begins on Wednesday.

But it all comes crashing down when Rylan reveals the twenty-somethings are there to mend their ways — and will actually be working in a bar, serving drinks and scrubbing loos for their six-week summer holiday.

Even worse, they have been nominated by their own friends and family.

Rylan oversees the action, while presenter and top barman Lee Baldry keeps the recruits in order.

He said: “My job isn’t to discipline, my job is to encourage them and make sure they’re enjoying it.

“But my biggest vice is being too nice to people. I get on with everyone, and it’s only if you f** me off that we’re done, because I’ve got a sting in my tail. Maybe I need to be more of an a**hole.”

It doesn’t mean Rylan is planning to show all the sides to him on TV anytime soon.

He explained: “What you see on TV is what you get with me. But it is telly, so I smile, the teeth come out and my voice goes slightly higher.

“In real life, I’m a bit more normal, more blokey. But I don’t tell anyone because it will ruin my career.”

The return to reality TV is a change of pace for Rylan, who walked away from Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two in September.

But just because he will no longer be sitting on the couch alongside Janette Manrara discussing the week’s dances does not mean he would accept a place in the actual contest.

Rylan added: “Leaving It Takes Two was fully my choice.

“I just felt that it was my time and I always think not to outstay your welcome — you know, to always leave on a high.

“But I wouldn’t go on it as a contestant.

“I don’t think it would be fair because I’m too f***ing brilliant. I can dance really well because I used to be a dancer years ago.

“Also, I know all the pros from working with them. I’ve learnt so much from all of them over the years.

“Going back on Strictly in any form would be like me going back on Big Brother — I just wouldn’t.”

Hmmm, let’s see about that Rylan.

Reality hits wild bunch

THESE are sexy singles battling it out for a potential £60,000 prize pot.

And if their personalities are anything to go by, there are fireworks in store.

Each week they can be tipped money by VIP guests before reaching the end total of up to £60,000.

Rylan said: “They are not here for a party summer, they’re here to work. It’s a fantastic cast but it’s always hard, especially with the younger generation now, to find people that aren’t ‘trained’ for it.

“They’ve grown up with reality TV so they know how it works. They’re the TikTok generation, they know what to say, when not to say it.

“But the guys we’ve found, they’re happy to slip at times and I think that’s what makes a good show.

“This is the type of show I probably would have been on ten years ago.”

Barman Lee on shorts

RYLAN has high hopes of taking on Ant and Dec with his latest role alongside new co-host Lee.

But hospitality consultant Lee, who starred on ITV game show Quizmania in the Noughties, thinks their height difference is a little too extreme to take on the famous double act.

Lee said: “I’ve known Rylan for years. He sent me a message a week or two before we were coming out, saying, ‘I hear we’re going to be the new Ant and Dec’.

“I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? It’s more like Little and Large!’

“On our first episode, he sat down so I looked great. But when we’ve been filming things standing up, I’m like, ‘Oh God, I look 3ft tall – I look like a toy’.”

RYLAN rediscovered the spirit of reality TV in his new series.

He was on Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and hosted Big Brother’s Bit On The Side.

He said: “Since I left Big Brother, I’ve missed reality TV. It’s not Big Brother, but I have got a big brotherly relationship with the contestants, 100 per cent.”

Bec and her bad habits

IT’S the last-chance saloon for one contestant in the Hot Mess Summer villa.

But even living like a nun in 2017 did not stop her from needing another intervention from Rylan.

Rebecca said: “I did do a show before this, called Bad Habits, Holy Orders. It was a similar concept and I got sent away to change my partying ways.

“I had to live as a nun and we did This Morning.

“I met Rylan there in the green room.

“It did change me but my friends still put me in for this show on the basis that I am still too feral during a night out – and that I always leave my friends for boys.”

Flirting Amin in bother

THE series is already feeling more like Love Island – with two contestants copping off just hours into it.

But the blossoming romance faces an uncertain future because, like the ITV2 dating show, the Hot Mess Summer villa is packed with temptations.

Amin said: “The first day, we had a bit of a connection straight away, and we explored that, and the first night I stayed with her.

“The second day I wanted to again, but I had a flirt with a few of the other girls in the villa. That didn’t go down well, it got blown out of proportion.

“I didn’t personally think I did anything that bad. It was the second day and people just love to stir. But then we made up and tried it again.

“Then I was mischievous at work, I might have had a little kiss. That didn’t go down well either so we called it quits . . .  and then started up again.”

HOST Rylan won’t be forgetting his suncream in Zante after a horror holiday in Essex.

He said: “When I was nine, my aunt took me to Southend for the day. Not glam, and I refused to put on suncream – I’m a ginger kid. I ended up in hospital because I had blisters from burning so bad.”

Dani is a French fancy

Contestant Daniella is used to the high life – revealing a wealthy one-night stand once whisked her off on a private jet after she spent an evening partying with pals.

The model said: “I always leave my friends on a night out for a boy – but then I do end up in places like Paris.

“I once met this guy who asked, ‘Do you want to go back to my house?’ I agreed, not realising that he lived in a different country. So off we went to Paris in a private jet.

“The people I always seem to attract on nights out are footballers, but this was a very moneyed man. Things like that wouldn’t happen if I wasn’t who I am.”
