Speaking to Vanessa Feltz and Giles Brandreth, Alison, 48, said: "Did you know this was coming? Breaking news - we've got some Bake Off news - Dermot O'Leary is going to be appearing on Stand up to Cancer Bake Off."

Alison, who hosts Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding, then gave fans a first-look at Dermot in one of the famous aprons before he opened up about his experience.

Dermot said: "All I'll say is it's a lovely, warm atmosphere. The ovens are on...

Turning to his co-host, he continued: "And then suddenly someone comes in and sunshine walks through the tent. Who could that person be?"

Alison then revealed Spice Girl Mel B is also doing the show, which is set to air in the spring.

It comes after Alison was confirmed as the late Paul O'Grady's For the Love of Dogs successor.

Earlier this week ITV revealed Alison would be taking over, despite Paul's close friend Julian Clary also being in the running

But during today's This Morning Alison told how there are no hard feelings though and shared a sweet message of congratulations from Julian.

She said Julian had told her: "Paul actually thought a lot of you. He would be so happy you got the job, as am I."

Alison also spoke about why she wanted to step into Paul's shoes, adding: "It’s a massive responsibility. I’ve always wanted a dog but you have to take it seriously. I just want to make [Paul] proud."
