CORONATION Street star Sue Cleaver has opened up about being rushed to A&E after having a hysterectomy.
The 50-year-old actress, best known for playing mouthy Eileen on the ITV soap, privately decided to have her uterus and cervix surgically removed last year.
However, in a discussion with Kate Thornton on podcast , Sue admitted she wasn’t prepared for it to impact her the way it did.
When Kate asked about the surgery, noting that it "solves problems and makes more", she admitted she had found herself in intensive care in the aftermath.
“Yeah, I was already postmenopausal, but it has impacted in certain ways that I didn't expect,” she said.
“I went on and I got, you know, I found myself [...] in A&E, and then in intensive care, and that kind of took over really. So it's been a challenging six months.”

However, Sue was quick to add she was now back on her feet, noting she had taken time away from Corrie in order to recuperate.
“I was poorly for a while so I've been off Corrie. Hardly been in sort of six/seven months, which is really strange,” she noted in the podcast.
“Really strange, but they've been wonderful and very supportive and I'm actually back in work tomorrow.”
She added she was now working out at the gym and was focusing on getting "fit and healthy in 2024", ahead of heading out on tour around the UK as part of Sister Act: The Musical.
