What is Henna?

Henna is a dye prepared from the plant Lawsonia inermis, also known as the henna tree, the mignonette tree, and the Egyptian privet, and one of the only two species of the genus Lawsonia.

Henna can be used as a way of creating temporary body art as it dyes the skin.

The dye has been used for 5400 years to dye skin, hair, nails and fabrics.

People would use henna to cover grey hair.

The henna used on the skin is made into a paste before a design is drawn.

It is then left for a while as it dries before it reveals a stunning design.
