“Everyone in the crowd were hugely concerned about him.

“Bobby has now cancelled his upcoming gigs and is taking some time out.

“He has been struggling since the loss of his fiancee Vicky last year but threw himself into work to try and keep his mind off it.”

Davro, 65, had been booked to perform at the House of Stand Up in Sutton, South London, on Thursday but an announcement on X, formerly Twitter, said comic would be replacing him.

He became a household name in the 1980s and 90s thanks to a string of popular ITV shows on Saturday night, including Bobby Davro on the Box, Bobby Davro’s TV Annual and Bobby Davro’s TV Weekly.

After a lull in his popularity, Davro joined the cast of BBC One‘s hit soap opera EastEnders in August 2007, playing the role of Vinnie Monks, a love interest for Shirley Carter.

His first on screen appearance came that October but he left in autumn 2008, says his character “wasn’t very good and they didn’t give me proper storylines”.

The actor and funnyman revealed in July last year he had proposed to his partner Vicky Wright the day before she started chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer.

Vicky died last year at the age of 63.

The engagement party last December was at The King’s Arms in Egham, Surrey, where Vicky had been working as a maitre d’.

Bobby asked celebrity pals, including Sir Cliff, comic Jim Davidson, singer  and Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley, to put together video messages.

Vicky, daughter of singer Joy Beverley of The Beverley Sisters and legendary Wolves and England footballer Billy Wright — who died of the same condition — was diagnosed with cancer in October 2022.

Bobby first met Vicky when she performed as part of pop trio The Foxes, who supported him on tour.

Years later they reunited after she moved into a house opposite his late father, Bill.

In 2008 he invited her over at Christmas and the friendship turned to love.
