Yet despite being enchanted by the new Gladiators cast - which includes Apollo, Athena and Bionic - fans have been left wanting more.

Back in its Nineties heyday, the Pyramid game delighted and terrified fans in equal measure.

The staged foam structure, which spanned 7.5metres high, saw the contenders at the bottom attempting to scale to the top.

Yet, of course, the team of ripped Gladiators were standing in their way.

One took to X to exclaim: "I know health and safety would never allow it nowadays but I’d love the game Pyramid to make a comeback. It was my favourite back in the day.

"Definitely an accident waiting to happen though haha."

Another added: "I hope they bring this game back at some point. Pyramid was always my favourite game."

A third commented: "I’d forgot this yes! The games are too easy now."

Yet others pointed out the pitfalls of the dangerous challenge.

One insisted: "It was an accident that DID happen, and ended Jet’s career on the show."

Another agreed: "Yeah the games in the 90s were rough. Panther broke her neck on another game as well I seem to remember," as a third agreed: "It’s still very physical in some games but they’ve got to think about the health and safety a lot more now.

"I’ve read that there’s some injury’s during this new series as well."

One bluntly put: "Finished so many Gladiators careers."

Fans have also demanded the return of the original show backing track compared to the new background music.

The show originally ran on ITV for eight seasons from 1992 until 2000.

The Gladiators OG cast included famous Gladiators like Jett, Wolf and Cobra.
