THE Masked Singer fans are adamant a hugely-popular singer is behind the French face.

The ITV character has caused much confusion among viewers, with many initially speculating actress Hannah Waddingham is the iconic landmark.

Other viewers have insisted Eighties popstar Tiffany is behind the mask while some reckon EastEnders star Vicki Michelle is mimicking the French landmark.

Yet with the net of potential stars so wide, Macy Gray, 56, is now a name in the frame.

It came after the architectural wonder, which in real-life is in Paris, belted out swoon-worthy hit Angels by Robbie Williams.

Many thought the Ohio-born star's "scratchy" voice fit the bill perfectly.

This led The Masked Singer fans to flood X with comments, with one writing: "Good shout for Macy Gray as Eiffel Tower!" as another put: "Eiffel Tower is sounding like Macy Gray to me."

A third continued: "Eiffel Tower….Macy Gray? Sounds like her and she has clothing line I think so fashion clues might fit."

One then mused: "Eiffel Tower has to be Macy Gray with all those shopping references…. Macys! Plus of course she really sounds like her ha ha."

Another concluded: "Eiffel Tower: what a great performance - the scratchy voice reminds me of Macy Gray."

Yet there might be a hitch with their suspicions, as the I Try songstress has recently starred as Sea Queen on the US version.

Meanwhile, the character has left a series of clues.

A post from The Masked Singer's official Instagram page featured the character and the words: "Ooh la la, ooh, la la, mon chant etait tres bon [my song was very good], it may not have been Monty but it was def Python."

In the caption, the show teased: "Did you SNAIL this #EIFFELTOWER riddle?"

Further show hints have also linked to Sex and the City as well as Abbey Road and The Beatles.

It also sung out Voulez-Vouz by ABBA in the previous episode.

Just last week, we reported how I'm A Celeb's Fred Sirieix - a French native - was also a name in the frame.
