‘My heart aches!’ sob Grantchester fans as they break down in tears at rollercoaster fallout from motorbike crash
Last year Tom Brittney announced that he would be leaving Grantchester after season nine.
GRANTCHESTER viewers were weeping after last night’s heartbreaking episode, which nearly saw one of the fan favourite characters go down for murder.
The second instalment of season eight kicked off with a bang, leaving fans claiming "there must be something wrong with my tear ducts."

Thursday night’s Granchester episode had fans fearing that Reverend Will Davenport, played by Tom Brittney, was going to be charged with murder after he accidentally killed someone while riding his motorbike.
Viewers also shared their concern for Geordie Keating, played by Robson Green, after they witnessed him clearing his friend’s name and saving the day.
As the scenes inside the interrogation room aired, fans took to X(Twitter) and expressed their thoughts on the second episode, with one viewer suggesting that Geordie could move on and another predicting that he could be heading for retirement.
One user tweeted: "Surely there's somewhere higher-up that Geordie could go to now! #Grantchester."

Another added: "There must be something wrong with my tear ducts. Hate seeing Will cry. #Grantchester."
A third pleaded: "We all need a friend like Geordie & he can’t retire #Grantchester."
Another echoed: "Geordie just can't ever leave."
A fifth wrote: "@tombrittney making my heart ache this episode.”

During the episode, as Will was being questioned, Geordie interrupted the interrogation by bursting into the room after uncovering new evidence.
The DI slammed a picture on the desk in front of Daniel, played by Oliver Dimsdale and said: "There was a photo taken four weeks ago, the speedo was already broken.
"It is stuck at 78 miles per hour. The last witness to see Mr Davenport in the village said he was going at a steady pace... 40 tops.
"The road is dangerous, it is a blind corner, countless deaths. John was running for his life, and the measurements from the road show Will tried to break. It was an accident, he has no case to answer for, and we have no right to keep him here."
Last summer, Tom announced that he would be exiting the ITV show after five years.
At the time of his departure, he said, “I’ve had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years.
"I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for. I’ll miss it more than anything.
"But it’s time for the baton to be passed, as it once was to me, and I’m so excited for Rishi [Nair] to join the Grantchester family.”
Hollyoaks' actor Rishi Nair will replace Tom as the village's new charismatic vicar, Alphy Kotteram.
Tom initially replaced James Norton in Grantchester in series four of the detective drama back in 2019.
The actor who plays Reverend Will Davenport will be replaced by former Hollyoaks star Rishi Nair, who will play the new Vicar Alphy Kotteram.
