LOVE Island fans were left fuming after the show sprung a surprise twist - saying 'there was no need for that'.

This came after the villa had another bombshell arrival, Josh Ritchie, 29, who rose to fame after appearing in the show's first ever series.

At the end of the episode, all Islanders were asked to gather to the firepit to announce a recoupling where Josh got first pick.

As the new arrival, he gets to choose first, despite it being the girls' turn to pick this week.

After taking Georgia Steel, Hannah Elizabeth and Georgia Harrison on dates, it remains to be seen whether Josh will couple up with one of these three ladies or throw in a curveball.

The episode ended on a cliffhanger with none of the recouplings revealed - meaning they have to wait until tonight to discover who selected whom.

There was also no teaser for tonight's episode, leaving viewers completely starved of any hints about the drama yet to come.

They were quick to take to X/Twiiter to express their dissatisfaction.

One user wrote: "'Of course we don't see the recoupling... the one interesting part."

Another. added: "Ugh not recoupling cliffhanger already I CBA."

A third penned: "F****** idiots. So there isn't even a recoupling tonight."

A fourth wrote: "THE CLIFFHANGER RECOUPLING ARGGGHHHH."

A fifth added: "So they tease a recoupling in the preview but end it right before it starts...oh."

A sixth wrote: "Nah we are not starting this crap of starting a recoupling and not finishing until tomorrow again producers."

A seventh echoed: "Wow. Not even going to show the recoupling at all? So the whole last 20 mins of the episode was just for ads and bulls***."

On last nights episode, Islanders Kaz Kamwi, 29, and Luis Morrison, 29, also seemed to be growing closer, but later on the terrace, Demi Jones, 25, and Luis ended up sharing a kiss.

Kaz then got wind of the snog and she and Liberty gave Demi a chilly reception when she walked over to the firepit.

Kaz then informed Mitch, who also has eyes for Demi, about the kiss just moments before the recoupling began.
