The latest character in their line of fire is Wendy Posner, who has had a tough few months to say the least.

Following her affair with local doctor Liam Cavanagh, Wendy spent weeks sobbing as she tried to save her relationship with Bob Hope.

While the couple did eventually make amends, they were rocked again on New Year's Day when Bob's teenage son Heath was killed in a car accident.

Heath's twin sister Cathy was also in the car and has been blamed for the accident after being seen driving the vehicle out of the village, and Bob doesn't believe her story that she wasn't behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

It's caused tension between father and daughter, and Wendy has been caught in the middle and for much of the time, in tears.

But her constant blubbing has started to rub Emmerdale viewers up the wrong way, with some demanding she be axed from the village for good.

Taking to social media, one wrote: "Dear Emmerdale writers, stop making Wendy cry because she can’t!"

Another added: "Whiney Wendy does my head in. What's with that annoying "sad" voice?"
