THE Chase star Mark Labbett, aka The Beast, was left speechless after the contestants set an 'unheard of' record during a tense final chase.
During Monday's episode of the ITV gameshow, hosted by Bradley Walsh, the chaser faced off against a group of four contestants who made show history.
The host welcomed players Ellen, Ben, Dan and Ange onto the show's latest instalment, where things took an unexpected turn.
In The Chase episode, each contestant narrowly escaped The Beast in their respective rounds, with Ellen being the first to face the chaser, answering three correct questions and making it through her round.
Ben was up next, and he ended up winning £9,000 for the team's jackpot, and then Dan won £7,000 in a tense head-to-head round with Mark.
Finally, Ange faced the 58-year-old quiz genius and managed to stay one step ahead of him throughout.

Bradley was impressed by how the contestants handled their rounds and clarified with The Beast: "Four one-question shoot-outs, right?”
To which a gobsmacked Mark responded: "I don't think we've ever had this before!"
As the programme continued, viewers took to and noted down their frustration after they witnessed Ben pressing the buzzer frequently during the last round and answering incorrectly.
One viewer wrote: “They would have got more if Ben's buzzer hadn't worked #thechase."

Another chimed: "Ben was absolutely rapid on that buzzer! He got all the answers wrong mind... how not to 'team' #thechase," with a grumpy face emoji.
A third viewer shared their disappointment over the team's performance, posting: "That was terrible #TheChase."
However, other show fans took to the social media platform and shared how they thought the Beast had been given an unfair advantage as one complained: "#thechase Chaser questions are (always) a Joke. #Scam."
Another agreed: "The chaser's questions were easy. And trick or treat on April the 1st? Really?"
Others even accused host Bradley of helping Mark by asking the questions quickly, with one moaning: "Bradley doing his usual and going a bit faster for The Chaser as he does for The Beast in the final chase #TheChase."
Unfortunately, Ange answered incorrectly, and The Beast managed to catch her out.
Her teammates tried their best in the final round, hoping to bag £20,000, but were caught by The chaser, who answered 17 questions correctly with 16 seconds left on the clock.
The Chase fans were recently left swooning over a 'dishy' celebrity contestant, Roger Black, 57, who they've 'fancied for 30 years' and 'still looks young'.
