The gut-wrenching series is inspired by the true crime bestseller by Jon Krakauer and tells the heartbreaking story of the 1984 murders of Brenda Wright Lafferty, played by Daisy Edgar-Jones and her baby daughter in a suburb in the Salt Lake Valley, Utah, which shocked America to its core.

Detective Jeb Pyre, played by Andrew Garfield, becomes in charge of the murder investigation, and it's not long before he uncovers the buried truths about the origins of the LDS religion – Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – and the violent consequences of uncompromising faith, which resulted in the deaths of the innocent souls.

The series synopsis reads: “A devout detective's faith is tested as he investigates a brutal murder seemingly connected to an esteemed Utah family's spiral into LDS fundamentalism and their distrust in the government.

The show, released in 2022, has gained popularity after it landed on streaming platforms Hulu and Disney+, and fans have been buzzing about the series online.

The series has an impressive critic rating with a score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.5/10 on IMDb.

Under The Banner of Heaven boasts an all-star cast including Sam Worthington, Denise Gough, Wyatt Russell, Billy Howle, Chloe Pirrie, Rory Culkin, Seth Numrich, Adelaide Clemens and Gil Birmingham.
