24 HOURS in Police Custody fans have slammed a "disappointing and frustrating’" repeat episode which aired last night.
The rerun instalment, which documented the investigation, arrest and imprisonment of twisted police officer Gareth Suffling, who was found guilty of blackmailing a man for using a Luton sex worker, aired in 2018.
In 2017, the detective was dismissed from the force for gross misconduct and was jailed for a total of 18 months.
As the Channel 4 episode aired, fans took to social media and complained about the rerun, which proved to be a hit when it first landed on screens.
One viewer expressed: “The worst feeling in the world is when you're buzzing for #24hoursinpolicecustody, then realise it's a repeat,” to which someone else replied, “ I’m livid.”
Another added: “Bloody gutted tonight’s #24hoursinpolicecustody is a repeat. Yes, it’s a good episode, but I was looking forward to a NEW episode.”

“This is a repeat from years ago @Channel4 I couldn’t believe this happened again, but now I remember. #24hoursinpolicecustody.”
Before the episode aired, the police unit which the show centres around, Bedfordshire Police, took to X(Twitter) and penned: “Tonight’s repeat episode of #24HoursInPoliceCustody will show the dramatic moment the focus of a criminal investigation turned onto one of our own officers.

Fans of 24 Hours in Police Custody also reacted to this post, with one user teasing: “He must be out by now. He can watch his own investigation.”
Another chimed: “So disappointed it’s an old one was all ready to watch a new episode.”
A third quizzed?: “Openess and transparency, yet this episode is 7yr old. Cause an officer was involved?”
It was revealed on the show that while he was working as a detective constable in Bedfordshire, Gareth wrote a letter to his victim demanding £1,000 for him to keep quiet and not spill the details to his loved ones and work colleagues.
It was also uncovered that the ex-officer used the Police National Computer to carry out a registered owner’s check on the victim’s vehicle and had even been in contact with the prostitute he was using to blackmail his victim with.
Fans of the show also were left horrified after CCTV footage of a man being run over was played on last week's episode.
The two-episode special shocked watchers as it followed the aftermath of a bar fight which ended in graphic murders.
24 Hours in Police Custody is available to watch on Channel 4 On Demand.
