SPARKS flew on the opening night of Love Island All Stars’ after the couplings chosen by viewers caused chaos.

Host Maya Jama, 29, launched a vote on Thursday where the public could choose which legends they wanted to pair up - and the results sent the cast including Liberty Poole, Georgia Harrison and Hannah Elizabeth reeling.

The All Stars moved into the villa in Cape Town, South Africa on Saturday and filming of the epic coupling up began.

But the legends were shocked to learn who the viewers had chosen as their bed fellows.

A source said: “As we’ve seen before when the public choose the couplings, sometimes they get it really right - look at Tasha and Andrew, for example, who are still together now.

“But this time round there were a few less than smiling faces - one coupling in particular is disastrous.

“It meant sparks flew in more ways than one.

“There’s a few pairings that show promise.”

Fans have been worried that the show’s initial twist will mean that Liberty 24,  and Jake Cornish, 26, will be forced together by cruel viewers.

Jake and Liberty - who were affectionately known as Jiberty - were favourites to win the show at one stage, but their relationship fell apart, and they both walked just four days before the series seven final.

Jake famously slated the show after his last stint, accusing it of “turning him into a villain.”

The Sun previously told how Liberty will be completely blindsided seeing Jake in the same villa as her.

And Liberty has already admitted it will be "awkward" if one of her exes pops up on the show, but insisted she will be "focused"; on her own journey to find love.

Despite that Love Island boss Mike Spencer has admitted he wants to see the pair try again.

Quizzed on whether he thinks there is any chance of the former couple getting back together, Mike told The Sun: “I secretly hope so, I think it would be good. It would be good to see how they interact. That's what I'm excited to see, whether they pick up from where they left off. I don't think they've seen each other.

"So I'll be interested to see that first chat.”

Other celebs taking part Fans can also take their pick from Georgia Steel, 25, and Kaz Kamwi, 29.

They will join Chris Taylor, 33, who was best known for dating ex-islander Maura Higgins, in the villa.

Scotsman Anton Danyluk, 29, who was in the same series, has also signed up to return along with former gas engineer Mitch Taylor, 26.

Winter 2020 star Demi Jones, 25, went into her series as a bombshell but has been secured by ITV as one of this show's main cast.

Luis Morrison, 29,  who first appeared on Love Island in 2015, alongside Hannah is also heading in.
