But that moment of glory was fleeting for some fans, who have been left unimpressed by how the aftermath has been dealt with.

Last night's episode saw the remaining five women - after Sharon fled to Australia - dig a deeper hole to bury Keanu at the cafe, before figuring out how to hand mix their own cement and lay the floor, just hours before builders turned up to work on the building.

The chaos took place at 8pm in the evening, and the scenes were the final straw for some EastEnders viewers.

Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one wrote: "Today’s episode of EastEnders is shambolic. F***ing handmixed cement for a 5ft hole? After Denise fell in with the body??? Just carrying on as normal?? Daft."

Another raged: "Never thought I’d say this as #EastEnders is normally my daily chill down although we know it’s a bit silly BUT Get some new script writers. URGENT.

"I’m ashamed of and will no longer watch this stupid debacle …
Wrong on a million levels."

A third tweeted: "the six storyline is beyond ridiculous, it's really getting on my nerves how far fetched and pathetic it is."

A fellow viewer agreed, writing: "Fresh concrete on broken floorboards at night. A dead body, and then they dug a hole deep in the cafe floor with a spade and nobody broke a sweat or a nail.
Getting a bit far fetched now guys…"

The women thought they had finally sorted their problem after burying the body, but in the final moments of the episode, it was revealed that Denise's 'D' necklace had fallen off and was lying near the body amongst the rubble.

EastEnders viewers were stunned by the latest twist and what it could mean for the character.

Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one wrote: "Denise is about to get pinned for the murder."

Another added: "Ohhhh s***tttt, It’s not looking good for Denise."

A third tweeted: "Nooo, Denise's necklace! Not Denise."

EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
