Call the Midwife viewers in tears as top comedian makes surprise show debut
FANS of Call the Midwife were left in tears as top comedian Rosie Jones made her debut on the show.
The story focused on Rosie's character, Doreen, experiencing pregnancy and childbirth as a woman with cerebral palsy.

It depicted the way in which pregnant disabled woman were treating during the 1960s and left many fans emotional as the comedy star delivered a stellar performance.
The role also marked a change in direction for for Rosie who regularly takes on comedic roles and performs stand-up as opposed to a role in a drama.
In the episode, Doreen attempted to conceal her pregnancy from her mother out of fear as to how she might react.
Amid a flurry of emotions, the pair are able to come together and celebrate the impending arrival of Rosie's baby as a duo.

Emotions also erupted on the ward when it was revealed that Sister Julienne had delivered Doreen during the Second world War.
During the birth, Doreen's clavicle was broken and she was ultimatly confirmed to have cerebral palsy fourteen months later.
Sister Julienne had held her responsible but both Doreen and her mother insisted that she was not to be blamed.
Reacting to Rosie's performance in the show, one fan said on X - formerly Twitter: "YES @josierones you do and tonight you’ve done it damn well.
