The Traitors’ huge viewing figures revealed as show becomes one of TV events of 2024
MORE than ten million people have watched The Traitors since series two began four days ago.
The huge viewing figures make the Bafta-winning show — hosted by Claudia Winkleman and based on party game “wink murder” — one of the TV events of 2024.
Around 8.2 million watched the first three episodes live.
And stats from the BBC’s iPlayer streaming platform suggests at least two million watched online.
A source said: “The iPlayer data is extremely impressive but it also marks an interesting moment in TV viewing habits.
“Audiences for the likes of I’m A Celebrity and Love Island have migrated rapidly to catch-up hubs.
“But data shows most viewers chose to watch The Traitors live, so they could chat about the twists and turns as they happen or the next day.
“It’s a marked return to that watercooler TV of old.”
The viewing figures have now exceeded those of season one, which aired in late 2022.
This series continues on Wednesday, when viewers will be shocked to learn the castle now has a dungeon and that the Traitors will be forced to “murder” in plain sight.
