Vera fans left ‘gutted’ as TWO major characters quit the show for good – but eagle-eyed viewers notice ‘glaring error’
One of the characters has already been replaced
FANS of Vera were left heartbroken as TWO of the show's biggest characters walked away from the programme for good.
The programme, led by acclaimed actress Brenda Blethyn, returned for the New Year but there was plenty of changes and it seemed that some fans were left saddened by two major show departures.

In the episode, DCI Vera Stanhope was called in to deal with a murder after a local villager was mowed down by a car with a mystery driver.
However, it was soon clear that her right-hand man, DS Aiden Healy, played by actor Kenny Doughty was nowhere to be seen.
Quickly, Vera told a colleague that he had upped-sticks and moved to Perth in Australia after encouragement from his wife.
Fans of the show knew that Kenny had quit the programme but now his exit storyline has finally been revealed.

Aiden's exit happened off-screen and he was last seen during the show's gripping Christmas special.
He was not the only long-standing character to depart the drama for good with Jac Williams, played by actress Ibinabo Jack, also making an off-screen exit.
Vera again made a fleeting comment as she attempted to solve her murder case to say that Jac had taken up another role elsewhere and as such would no longer be associated with Vera and her force.
Fans were left gutted that two of the show's leading stars had permanently left for good as they shared their sadness on X - formerly Twitter.

One fan said: "So glad this is back. Gutted Aiden has gone though."
Another added: "I'm gonna miss Aiden. His friendship with Vera was brilliant."
A third went onto write: "S***e that Aiden and Jac have gone though."
Before a fourth reacted in shock as they penned alongside a series of crying emoji's: "Aiden AND Jac have gone???"
However, some eagle-eyed fans picked up on a 'glaring error' regarding Aiden's exit.
Many were left bewildered how in the space of two weeks, when he last appeared on screen, that he had relocated to Australia despite not showing any interest in a move.
It seemed he had also managed to land himself a high-flying job in the country too at the drop of a hat.
Unconvinced by his exit, one unimpressed viewer moaned: "Aiden Healy made no mention of wanting to move to Australia in the Vera Christmas special. Yes he's now packed and relocated in the space of a fortnight."

As another reacted in further disbelief: "Aiden's gone to Oz...."
Aiden's replacement came in the form of returning character, Joe Ashworth, played by David Leon, who instantly rubbed Vera up the wrong way with his meddling ways.
