However, Lauren wasn't with them as she had been arrested at the airport after drugs were found in her bag.

Jack has since discovered that Penny was the one who had put them there, and while furious with his daughter, he hasn't grassed her up and instead has been working on ways to try and get Lauren released.

In tonight's episode, he was seen making a phone call at home and he said: "It's been a while bruv...just ringing to see if you're OK.

"Just give me a call when you get the message yeah? Just got a few things to talk about. Alright, speak to you later."

As he walked back into the room, a nervous Penny asked: "Are you going to tell him about me?"

Glaring at her, he replied: "You're unbelievable you are. You got your cousin banged up and all you're worried about is saving your own skin!"

As the pair argued, EastEnders viewers took to X - formerly Twitter - to discuss the fact Jack had called Max.

Max - played by Jake Wood - was last seen on the Square in February 2021, and many wonder if the call is a sign the legendary character could be about to return, especially now his daughter is back too.

One wrote: "Jack on the phone to Max. Potential return??"

Another added: "Jack calling Max Branning ‘Bruv’" alongside a crying emoji.
