Dan Walker returns to breakfast presenting with new show as he tells fans ‘time to dust off the alarm clock!’

The dad-of-three will still front Channel 5's nightly news programme alongside Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije

DAN Walker has announced his return to breakfast presenting as he admits he's filling 'massive shoes'.

The Channel 5 presenter, 46, took to social media to share his huge news with fans.

Dan has revealed he's joined Classic FM and will take over their esteemed breakfast show.

The former BBC Breakfast host will kick off his first show next Monday, replacing current presenter Tim Lihoreau.

Posting a snap in the radio studio, Dan told his followers on Instagram: "I need to dust off the alarm clock!

"Really excited about joining the brilliant team at @classicfm.

"Massive job stepping into @timlihoreau’s shoes but I can’t wait to get started on the breakfast show. See you Monday from 6.30am."

The dad-of-three will still front Channel 5's nightly news programme alongside Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije.

Fans flooded Dan with well wishes, with one writing: "Congratulations lovely man! You’ll be fantastic!"

A second posted: "Wow that is surprising but wonderful news! Congratulations."

"You are like a Kangaroo buddy. In a good way, hopping from place to place workwise," said a third.

While a fourth commented: "Well Dan, what a surprise. You will be with us on the school run. Welcome to early mornings. It will be lovely."

Dan hosted BBC Breakfast for six years before announcing his departure in 2022.

During his time on the iconic red sofa he hosted with former anchor Louise Minchin and current star Sally Nugent.
