‘It’s gross’ Scots Love Island legend reveals awkward gym moment

'Have you ever walked on a pavement with no shoes? It's like a danger sport'

LOVE Island's Iain Stirling has told how he had to walk home barefoot after a fellow gym goer brazenly stole his trainers by putting them on and walking out in them.

The 35-year-old comedian said he returned to the changing room from a hot yoga session to find the man wearing his shoes.

But when Stirling - who was only wearing pants at the time - confronted him, he insisted the trainers were his and walked out in them, leaving the Love Island narrator to make his way home without them.

The Scot said the incident happened while he was staying at the London home of his then girlfriend - now wife - Laura Whitmore.

"When I was first getting into shape my wife took me to hot yoga," he told the Time Capsule podcast.

"You have to strip down into a pair of pants and be in a hot room with pensioners farting. It's disgusting.

"I come out of hot yoga and I'm all sweaty and gross and I went into the changing rooms to get dressed.

"I walk in and there's a man with my shoes on. So I went up to the guy and say 'Excuse me, mate, I think you've got my shoes on'. And you'd think he'd be mortified.

"He didn't even look down. He just went 'No, these are my shoes'. But he said it so convincingly that for a few minutes I thought I must have forgotten to bring shoes today.

"He walks off. So he's walking down the high street in this posh part of north London. And I'm in just in pants so I can't run after him.

"I've got a Scottish accent, they're going to think they're filming Trainspotting 3.

"I got my normal clothes on and I had to walk home with no shoes. Have you ever walked on a pavement with no shoes? It's like a danger sport.

"Especially London, there's like kebabs and needles everywhere, it's gross.

"Basically I get back to [Laura's] house. She's left me for 45 minutes by myself and I return home with no shoes on."

It comes after the Love Island narrator faced another blow as his ITV2 sitcom Buffering has been cancelled by show producers.

Despite it being reported in May that work was underway on a third series of the comedy programme, it has now been confirmed that it will not be happening.

The comedian's management company Avalon, which produced all 12 episodes of the show, told British Comedy Guide that Iain has turned his attention to focus on other projects.
