EASTENDERS actress Kacey Ainsworth has sparked rumours of a soap comeback after staying coy on her return to the BBC show.

The actress, famed for playing Albert Square's Little Mo, was repeatedly quizzed on resuming her role on Thursday's Good Morning Britain.

It came after her on-screen son Freddie Slater, played by Bobby Brazier, has been at the heart of a number of recent EastEnders plotlines.

Kacey, 55, who now stars in Granchester and on the London stage, was initially grilled on a return by anchors Ranvir Singh, 46, and Richard Madeley, 67.

She played Little Mo Slater in EastEnders from 2000 to 2006.

Swerving the direct question on her return 17 years later, she instead told the ITV hosts how Bobby had actually been to her house for her daughter's 15th birthday party.

Yet, ex This Morning anchor Richard persisted and asked her again about resuming her role.

Kacey, who is starring on West End production Leaves Of Glass, said: "It would be an availability thing.

"I am busy until November.

"It would depend on the storyline and what they would do."

Talking of her plotlines - including the iconic 2004 scene which saw her attack abusive partner Trevor with an iron - she added: "The whole time I was there, every time I had a script, it was exciting."

Kacey's character Little Mo left the Square after her then husband Billy Mitchell couldn't face looking after her son Freddie, after he learned he was her rapist's Graham's child.

Back in October, Kacey announced her new acting role - this being a starring role in a production of Little Women in Manchester this month.

Meanwhile, last year, Kacey spoke about her feelings on a potential return to EastEnders.

She told The Daily Star: "I've done so much since I've left. I'm a regular in an ITV series [Grantchester], we're onto our seventh series of that.

"I've done so many things. Mrs Lovitt [in Sweeney Todd at the Everyman Theatre], I've just finished a play called Lava in London.

"I do so much stuff, I'm not sure there's room at the moment."

Yet she hasn't held back in blasting the soap either.

In a seething post on X, the actress took aim at theatrical website WhatsOnStage for only recognising her role in EastEnders.

"This is why working class actresses can't move on," the actress penned on X, formerly Twitter.

"Despite having performed in at least 10 plays, five films, series of Grantchester, countless other TV and radio performances, my credit is still EastEnders.
