BBC Breakfast in major hosting shake up as THREE fan-favourites go missing from show

BBC Breakfast has been making major changes to its line-up over the Christmas break

BBC Breakfast is experiencing a major hosting shake-up this week and Jon Kay, Carol Kirkwood and John Watson were missing from this morning’s programme.

Mike Bushell, who regularly supports John with the sports reports, was also nowhere to be seen today.

BBC Breakfast has continued as normal over the festive period, but to give its regular presenters a break, different presenters are being subbed in.

Back in her usual slot, Sally Nugent fronted the morning programme today alongside Ben Thompson, who took Jon’s regular spot on the red sofa.

Last week Sally, 51, and Jon, 54, confirmed that they would not be presenting together over the festive period.

Jon and Carol, 60, united to give viewers their news and weather on Christmas Day, while Sally returned today and, to keep things fair, will present the breakfast show on New Year’s Day.

Ben, 39, quite often rotates in for the regular presenters, as does Matt Taylor, who was subbing in for Carol on the weather this morning.

In his report, Matt, 44, warned that travel today could be disrupted by the weather.

“Storm Gerrit is set to bring rain and gales quite extensively, and snow across parts of Scotland, too,” he said.

He added that travel will most likely be disrupted today and continue into tomorrow.

It will be “a wild night into tomorrow,” Matt added.

Meanwhile, Gavin Ramjaun stubbed in for John and Mike, presenting the sports news this morning.

While he’s not a regular on BBC Breakfast, the 42-year-old has a long history with the broadcaster, having previously worked on programmes like Newsround.

Back in the studio after Gavin’s football update, Sally and Ben reported on the state of UK policing, speaking to Matthew Baker, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley Police.

They discussed the change in the way residential break-ins will be handled by police officers, as police chiefs have confirmed that officers will respond to every call in a timely manner.

After watching the programme, viewers at home couldn’t help but notice that Sally was dressed to impress this morning.

She wore a navy blue shirt dress with gold detail, which she paired with a gold statement necklace and matching earrings and a bracelet.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer gushed: “Loving Sally’s festive glam."

Meanwhile, another said they thought Sally could “seduce” every viewer.
