‘My life was over two years ago,’ says Chris Kamara as he breaks down in tears on Britain Get Singing

SPORTS host legend Chris Kamara was in tears on Britain Get Singing tonight as he opened up about his speech battle.

The star said "my life was over two years ago" when he was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, leaving him with a condition that affects his speech.

He achieved legendary status working alongside Jeff Stelling on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday for three decades.

On ITV's Britain Get Singing, hosted by Roman Kemp on Christmas Eve, Kammy performed alongside Aled Jones and Russell Watson.

After performing dressed as a ghost, the three stars represented The Masked Singer on the charity show, raising awareness of ITV's campaign Britain Get Talking.

After rave reviews from the judges, Kammy became overwhelmed with emotion.

He said: "My life was over two years ago and now it's back on track...", before breaking off.

Kammy was comforted by Russell as judge Alesha Dixon's eyes filled with tears.

The 65-year-old left his role on Sky Sports in 2022 after struggling with his voice.

He explained how he felt like a “fraud” following his apraxia of speech diagnosis – and like someone else is controlling his voice.

The ex-Swindon and Brentford midfielder has continued with some of his media work as the host of ITV's Ninja Warrior UK and co-host of the  with Ben Shephard.

Britain Get Talking is supported by Mind and YoungMinds to encourage people to look after their mental health by connecting with others.
