Eighties punk star Toyah Willcox, actress Kerry Godliman, actor Hammed Animashaun and comedienne Jessica Knappett were all given four hours to create their outfit.

But viewers were left scratching their heads when Toyah's model emerged in hers, as it looked just like Elsa's dress from the Disney movie Frozen.

The floor-length frock, which Toyah even called a 'Snow Queen Outfit', was the same colour as Elsa's and also featured a sheer cloak and a jewelled belt.

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, one Sewing Bee fan complained: "It just looks like bloody Elsa."

Another added: "Toyah has made an Elsa costume."

And a third chimed in with a nod to the lead song in Frozen, suggesting: "Let it go, Toyah..."

Despite its similarities to Elsa's gown, judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young liked the frock so much that they crowned Toyah the winner of the Christmas special.

And this only caused further outrage.

"Don't let Toyah win!" a viewer moaned.

Someone else added: "Toyah won????"

The Great British Sewing Bee Celebrity Christmas Special aired on BBC One on Thursday night.

Toyah, Kerry, Hammed and Jessica were also tasked with making a Christmas stocking and creating a child's fancy dress costume out of a puffa jacket.

For the final challenge, Patrick explained: "Everybody marks Christmas in a different way.

"Some people like to dress up, some people like to dress down, some people have traditions.

"What we'd like to see from this challenge is an incredible festive outfit that is important to them."

Toyah immediately set her heart on making something "glamorous".

She told the judges: "I dress up on Christmas Day and I love it.

"I am making something super glamorous for one to watch the King's Speech by. I want to feel part of the royal experience."

Patrick told Toyah her 'Snow Queen Outfit' was "absolutely fantastic".

She was then handed the winner's trophy by him and Esme.
