Good Morning Britain fans branded the moment "comedy gold" as they flooded X with their views.

It came as Richard was drumming up support for the 1 Million Minutes Campaign.

It encourages viewers to donate their time - not money - to support a variety of organisations and community projects.

He admitted he wasn't the best at technology as he grabbed his phone and strolled to a huge digital screen in the studio.

After multiple attempts to scan the code - before he took pictures of it - Richard said the yellow digital toggle to take him to the website to donate had "disappeared".

His co-host Charlotte Hawkins, 48, was on hand to assist, jumping from her desk and whipping the phone out of his hand.

She then realised it was on portrait mode - so couldn't scan the QR code.

Richard then joked: "Do you think I have become extinct?"

One viewer was quick to share their giggles and wrote on social media: "Richard Madeley trying to demo how to use a QR code is pure comedy gold."

A second put: "Teaching Madeley how to use his phone haha,"; as a third quizzed: "What are you doing Richard."

One then mused: "Richard has no idea," as another shared: "That was actually hilarious."

Another branded the moment: "Comedy gold," as one put: "Richard Madeley has me bad trying to scan that QR code live on GMB."

Back in 2017, GMB launched the 1 Million Minutes campaign with Age UK and other charities that work to help people experiencing loneliness later in life.

Recently, Richard's most controversial GMB moments were compiled.

Back in August, he was forced to apologise after swearing live on air.
