Geordie Shore thrown into chaos as TWO original stars threaten to quit in pay row as bosses hold crisis talks

Top brass on the series were terrified as they have already lost one huge cast member for the next series

GEORDIE Shore has been plunged into chaos after two original cast members threatened to quit in a pay row.

The MTV show already has the next series in the can, which airs in January, but cameras are due to roll in the Spring for another series to air later in 2024.

But The Sun can exclusively reveal that a couple of the show’s biggest names, who have been on the show since day one, initially refused to sign their contracts and threatened to walk over the money that was put on the table.

A source revealed: ” At least two of the cast were unhappy that they weren’t getting more money to film another series, especially after all these years of the show being such a big success for MTV and its parent company, Paramount.

“As well as being a huge hit in the UK, it’s streamed all over the world, so they felt that their pay should reflect that and they should get a salary rise.

“The powers that be told them that wasn’t going to happen, so the stars in question called their bluff and said they would walk.”

The drama caused producers to go into panic mode behind the scenes as they were concerned about losing more of the show’s original cast after the departure of Charlotte Crosby.

“There were some urgent crisis talks going on behind closed doors,” reveals our insider. “The top brass were really nervous because they’ve already lost a key player in Charlotte, who had been there since day one.

“They didn’t want to lose any more OGs as that could threaten to entire future for the entire show. When long-running series like this lose their biggest names, it’s all downhill from there.”

The Sun has contacted MTV for comment.

After several tense weeks of frantic email exchanges, meetings and phonecalls, however, it seems like there has been a resolution.

Our source added: “At the last minute, it looks like deals have now been struck and those who initially held out on signing have agreed a fee to come back.

“At the end of the day, noone wanted to leave, but the cast wanted to feel like they were being acknowledged for what they bring to the franchise.

“It’s been a really stressful time behind the scenes but now everyone can enjoy the Christmas break knowing that things are more settled and the cast are happier.”

As The Sun previously revealed, Gaz Beadle is also in talks to return to the series for the episodes that will film in the Spring.

It comes after he split from wife Emma Mcvey and felt like the time was right to return to his roots.
