NIGEL Farage has revealed the real reason he he did I'm A Celebrity - and it's not for his reported £1.5million fee.

The politician, 59, caused a stir when he became the highest paid I'm campmate in history with his eye-watering seven-figure.

But the former UKIP leader has now insisted that his paycheck had nothing to do with him signing up for the show - but instead wanted to prove a point to the British public.

Nigel reflected: “This has been the most amazing adventure, I’ve proved to myself I can do things I never believed I could."

"I hope I’ve shown the British public I’m not the devil that half of them seem to think I am," he said on tonight's ITV's Coming Out reunion show.

Nigel hit headlines during his time in the jungle for breaking I’m A Celebrity rules by stripping off to wash.

He has since taken a swipe at ITV, claiming he wasn’t the only celeb to shower naked.

igel insisted that he was singled out by producers, who decided to show his bare bum.

He told : “I was told that I shouldn't be naked. And yet the doctor said, personal hygiene really matters in the jungle, checking yourself for horrors like leeches matter.

“You're not going to do that unless you are naked so I ignored what ITV said. And I continued to shower naked every day.

“Interestingly, many other campmates did the same. Only I got the publicity, but you know something? I couldn't care less.”

It was jockey Frankie Dettori who first told how Nigel had broken the rules, saying: "We were told to keep our swimmers on!”

He told The Sun that most of the celebs back in camp had no clue about Nigel's au naturel moment.

It was previously reported Nigel was paid a staggering £1.5m for his stint in the jungle.

This is significantly more than the former highest paid star, presenter Noel Edmonds, who was paid £600k in 2018.

On top of this, Nigel also previously expressed his strong desire to compete in the Bushtucker Trials so he can appear to more people.

He previously stated food critic Grace Dent: "If you do the challenges, it's 25% of the airtime. I'm looking at reaching a whole new audience."
