It came during a segment by turkey farmer Paul Kelly from Kelly Turkeys - a brand backed by top chef Delia Smith.

He showed This Morning viewers the best way to carve a turkey, firstly cutting off a keg before removing a breast to cut it up.

It was then when the marbled meat was revealed - with fans calling out the colour.

One mused: "Thought turkey was supposed to be white not pink," as another wrote: "It's pink is it supposed to still be pink?"

A third commented: "My turkey is always white, not sure about pink?" as a ITV fan replied: "Could be the lights?"

Another posted: "Looks more like Ham than Turkey," as one quipped: "Kiss of life will bring that turkey back!"

Paul also advised viewers to let their turkey stand - uncovered - before carving.

One then replied: "WOW.. the turkey has been out of the oven for 3 hours, uncovered and it's still warm!! That's amazing!"

Yet in the segment, Paul explained just why the bird's meat was a darker colour.

He said it was a "dark meat" because it had come from a "mature bird."

Paul said: "See that lovely dark meat?

"Because the bird is mature and has had lots of exercise, and the myoglobin has built up and given it lots of lovely dark colour."

Talking about the bronzed turkey on the KellyBronze website, it states: "Important to understand is that a KellyBronze is our own unique breed; it is a very slow growing bird and therefore has to be grown to full maturity to achieve the weight you need for Christmas.

"Then there is of course the age, combined with our free-range farming, hand plucking – without the use of water – traditional finishing, temperature controlled methods of hanging and finally our unique cooking times that ensure greatness.

"It is all in the detail and this vital sequence of events that result in the KellyBronze Turkey."

Earlier in the show, This Morning was subject to a huge presenter shake-up.

The Saturdays singer Mollie King joined Dermot O'Leary for Tuesday's instalment of the ITV show.

After a beautiful rendition of Silent Night performed by a group of school children at the start of the episode, the camera panned back on the This Morning studio.

Dermot was over the moon to see Mollie, 35, back presenting the show.

The singer revealed that she was last on This Morning a whopping 18 months ago.
