The popular BBC show has returned to screens, with detectives taking to the skies to investigate deaths this time instead of looking for a killer under the sea.

In the first episode DCI Amy Silva and her partner DI Kirsten Longacre were called up to investigate a drone attack on the RAF.

Seven soldiers were left dead after a weapon drone exercise at the Scottish military base in Dundair went terribly wrong when an unknown party took control of the object.

Viewers were horrified by the violent attack, taking to social media to share their thoughts.

One person shared: "Honestly I’m so scared about drones."

Another wrote: "Was never scared of drones before."

A third joked: "Dear Santa, I've just watched the first episode of Vigil S2 on BBC iPlayer. I've now decided I don't actually want a drone for Christmas any more. I think I'd rather have a puppy. Love UK, mildly traumatised by death drones with rocket launchers."

Someone else agreed: "If anyone buys me a drone for Christmas for any reason I'm selling it."

The first three episodes dropped on BBC iPlayer yesterday morning.

The following three will become available at 6 am on Sunday, December 17.
