NETFLIX fans have been left cringing after a clip of a “terrible but wonderful” scene from the popular holiday flick Christmas Inheritance went viral.
Eagle-eyed viewers say they’re “losing it” because of a hilarious moment in the scene which many don’t notice the first time they watch the film.
Christmas Inheritance stars The 100 actor Eliza Taylor as Ellen Langford, a business heiress, opposite Jake Lacey and Andie MacDowell. Ellen’s dad Jim (Neil Crone) tasks her with delivering their company’s Christmas letter to his friend and business partner in their hometown of Snow Falls.
She does this in hopes of taking over his company, but it’s on the condition that she completes the task without the luxuries she’s accustomed to, so Ellen heads to the small town by bus and incognito, with only $100.
The 2017 movie employs the classic Christmas trope of “big city girl finds true happiness in a small town” and she eventually ditches her high-powered boyfriend Gray (Michael Xavier) because she’s fallen in love with local boy Jake Collins (Lacey).
A clip from the film has recently gone viral, with viewers cracking up at one particular moment in a scene between Ellen and Jake as the pair are starting to grow closer.

Away from everyone else at the inn where Jake works and Ellen is staying, Ellen walks in on Jake doing sketching in his office. Impressed, she tells the self-described “doodler” that he’s very talented.
After a moment, Ellen turns to leave, before poking fun at some of the knickknacks Jake has on his shelf, which he says are to be auctioned off for charity.
Picking up a plastic bobble-head, Ellen joked that the toy could easily raise “a couple of million.”
But then she spots one of Jake’s sketches. She calls the drawing of Santa atop a chimney “adorable” and says “this could actually fetch a price.”

Jake quickly hides the drawing away, but Ellen praises his talent, telling him “should do something” with his art.
The scene marks a turning point for Ellen and Jake’s romantic relationships, but that’s not what viewers were focused on.
Sharing the clip on X, formerly Twitter, one Netflix fan wrote: “Every year I was Christmas Inheritance on Netflix and every year I lose it at this bit.”
They were referring to Jake’s drawing of Santa, which Ellen praises as if it’s the Mona Lisa. As a result, Netflix fans have dubbed this moment “the single greatest Christmas movie scene of all time.”
Joking about the sketch, another social media user said: “I have the picture saved on my phone. My family and I rewind this scene at least five times on every rewatch.
They added: “I don’t understand how it is so terrible and so wonderful???”
“They couldn’t find anyone on the entire set who could draw better than that? Was buying a sketch from literally any artist not an option?” mocked another fan.
Another fan who loved the scene commented: “It is such a big part of my Christmas. I actually think there are a lot of unintentionally funny moments in this criminally underrated classic!!”
Christmas Inheritance is available to stream on Netflix.
