PAUL Foreman is living his last moments in the cobbles and has celebrated Christmas early with his loved ones.
Sadly, the Coronation Street builder had to part with one of his closest relatives ahead of time as she was dragged to prison.
Bernie Winter (portrayed by Jane Hazlegrove) was famously involved in the late Shelly Rossington's money-making scheme and was recently arrested for handling stolen goods.
For weeks, both of her children Paul (Peter Ash) and Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) feared they may not have enough time to spend all together as the former's battle with motor neurone disease (MND) is growing more intense every day.
Sadly, the pair of them had no other choice but to face reality in hard-hitting scenes aired on ITV on Monday (December 4, 2023).
Bernie was sentenced to three months in prison last night, leaving her two children devastated in the courtroom.

To make matters worse, Bernie was confirmed to miss out on Paul's last moments in the cobbles as the judge made it clear she had to stay behind bars for at least a month and a half of her sentence.
This means actress Jane Hazlegrove has left the Manchester-based drama, after four years of regular appearances in the program.
The former Casualty actress made her Coronation Street debut in July, 2019, as the plain-spoken mother of twins Gemma and Paul.
In her four-year long stint, Bernie has been involved in a plethora of dramatic storylines, including one involving a fake kidnapping ordeal that she had staged for her grandson Joseph Brown.

And as she remains behind bars while Paul lives his last few moments, her daughter Gemma is continually spiralling, particularly after being accused of poisoning young Joseph.
Gemma was convinced Joseph was sick after he complained about multiple headaches in recent weeks.
After initially being told she had been overreacting, Gemma was proven right when doctors revealed Joseph had seemingly been poisoned.

Suspicions turned to Gemma in more recent scenes of the long-running show as social worker Caitlin Edwards (Gillian Jephcott) arrived in the cobbles to investigate.
Gemma was asked if she had intentionally poisoned Joseph which the horrified fan favourite vehemently denied.
How will Gemma and Paul cope without Bernie?
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
