Beloved BBC Breakfast star disappears from show after bagging spot on huge new series

A BELOVED BBC Breakfast star has disappeared from the show after landing a new role on a huge series.

The flagship morning programme is typically hosted by Jon Kay and Sally Nugent at the start of the week.

However, viewers tuned in on Monday to discover that Sally, 51, was nowhere to be seen.

Instead Jon, 53, was joined on the iconic red sofa alongside stand-in host Sarah Campbell.

The pair brought viewers the latest news from across the country.

Both presenter's did not address Sally absence from the show.

Sally's disappearance from BBC Breakfast comes after it was announced she had joined the Strictly Come Dancing lineup.

The journalist will star in the Christmas edition of the hit Beeb dancing series.

The mum-of-one has been paired up with professional dancer Graziano Di Prima.

Speaking about about joining the lineup, Sally said: "I am thrilled and slightly terrified to be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

"I'm hoping the judges will be kind - and filled with Christmas spirit. And I hope everyone watching at home will enjoy a little bit of Strictly magic on Christmas night.”

Sally had previously opened up on her training for the show to co-host Jon Kay.

"It's hard! I'm really not a dancer so to learn a dance in quite a short space of time is tough."

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
