Coronation Street cast former Emmerdale actress who played Faith Dingle for exciting new role

EMMERDALE'S Faith Dingle Actress has landed an exciting new role on Coronation Street.

The ITV soap is about to welcome a new addition to the cobbles.

A spokesperson for Coronation Street confirmed, actress Gillian Jephcott will be joining the soap for four episodes.

Gillian who is best known for playing the original Faith Dingle on Emmerdale, will appear as a character named Caitlin Edwards.

Caitlin is a social worker and no further details about the role have been released.

Although it could be likely that she will have something to do with Bernie Winter’s (Jane Hazelgrove) prison storyline. 

Gillian appeared as Faith Dingle, the mother of Cain and Chas Dingle, on Emmerdale between 2000 - 2004.

The character then returned in 2017, but was recast and played by actress Sally Dexter.

Sally played her until the character tragically died from Cancer in heartbreaking scenes aired in 2022. 

Gillian’s latest role on Corrie isn’t her first time on the Street.

The actress appeared for four episodes in 2001, she played a prison officer who was tasked with looking after Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) after she had imprisoned for the kidnap of her foster child Wayne Hayes. 

The actress has also appeared in shows including Doctors, Heartbeat and Cutting It.

She is also a successful stage and radio actress. 

The star has starred in an on-stage production titled I Want That Hair, which followed the lives of three friends in a hair salon.

Gillian has remained busy since her departure from the titular village, 19 years ago - and is worlds away from Yorkshire and the Woolpack.

During her four-year stint in the soap, the actress appeared in rival program Coronation Street.

She was seen in the cobbles in August, 2001, slipping into the uniform of harsh and uncaring prison officer Carol Glover who was tasked with taking care of Hayley Cropper, incarcerated for kidnapping abused foster child Wayne Hayes.

Once she waved the Dales goodbye, Gillian went on to appear in other popular TV shows in the likes of Doctors, Cutting It and Heartbeat.

She rekindled with the medical drama genre in 2011 as her credits also include an episode of Monroe.
