All will be revealed in a dramatic hour-long Christmas Day special on BBC One with the soap even being given a later timeslot to ramp up the tension and draw in more viewers.

The programme will air between 9:30pm and 10:30pm for the dramatic reveal.

However, some fans have been left begging the Beeb for a last minute shake-up to the schedule.

Many have suggested that splitting up the action into two 30 minute episodes would be better in order to build up tension and allow for any last moment fan theories and speculation.

They have suggested that airing an episode earlier in the evening and then a follow-up toward the end of the day would be better for the show's huge reveal.

Writing online, one fan said: "I would rather 2x 30 minutes episodes 1 earlier and another later what they used to do years ago. They shouldn't just give EastEnders a rubbish timeslot.

"I remember the days they split the two episodes my childhood and viewers got a good cliffhanger at the end of part 1."

A second pointed out how it had been used in years before and said: "The two 30-minute episode format for Christmas Day worked incredibly well and really should return.

"The first episode, usually late afternoon or early evening, was used to build the tension and drop a particular bombshell."

Someone else penned: "I missed days, when it was two episodes."

Tension has been mounting all year surrounding The Six.

Walford's leading ladies - Sharon Watts, Kathy Beale, Stacey Slater, Denise Fox, Linda Carter and Suki Panesar - will all find themselves connected to the shock murder of a man who has wronged them in the past.

Fan speculation has remained rife with Nish Panesar, Ravi Gulati, Theo Hawthorne, Rocky Cotton and Martin Fowler having been suggested as potential victims.
