Kate Garraway reveals husband Derek is back in hospital as she reveals behind the scenes struggle
KATE Garraway has revealed that her husband Derek is back in hospital.
The TV presenter gave a health update on Derek during an appearance on Loose Women today.
Kate took on the role of carer for Derek after he became seriously ill after contracting Covid in 2020.
The Good Morning Britain star appeared on the ITV show to chat about her upcoming book The Strength of Love: Embracing an Uncertain Future with Resilience and Optimism.
The novel is a follow up from her first The Power Of Hope, which has documented how much their lives have changed since Derek became ill.
Loose Women anchor Charlene White asked how Derek is at the moment, to which Kate replied: "Funnily enough he's back in hospital at the moment. I haven't talked about this. Not for horrific drama fortunately.

"Because there had been lots of, as we've all experiences, referrals and cancellations.
"He's gone back in for something that he began last year, which he needed the second part, which will hopefully mean he has more movement.
"So it's a positive hospital thing. So he's actually not at home at the moment.
"Hopefully he won't be in for too long."

Former lobbyist Derek was left in a critical condition when he contracted Covid in 2020 - and was hospitalised for 13 months.
He returned to his family home in April 2021.
Kate also appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier today.
Anchor Susanna Reid confessed she had "no idea" about the "burden" shouldered by her close pal.
Kate spoke out to raise awareness for National Carers Rights Day, and said today: "Is not really about demands, although there are many.
"It is about carers who do it for love as it were, unpaid carers.
"Understanding what rights they do have as well as pushing for more."
Susanna then said: "Do you know what, I just finished your book, Strength of Love.
"What struck me is that I thought I knew what you and Derek were going through."
Susanna continued: "In terms of the struggle. I had absolutely no idea.

"You only tell us sort of a glimpse, because you don't want to burden people."
Just last month, Kate gave viewers a huge medical update on Derek's recovery.
