DOCTOR Who fans were left outraged after iconic villain Davros returned to the show — standing up and no longer disfigured.

The Daleks’ creator has been depicted with withered features in a mobile life support unit since first appearing in 1975.

But when actor Julian Bleach reprised the role on Friday for a Children in Need special with David Tennant’s Doctor he was able- bodied and unscathed.

The BBC drama’s boss Russell T Davies said he took issue with Davros being a “wheelchair-user who is evil”.

He said: “A lot of us on the production team did too, associating disability with evil.”

But the move has been slammed as “woke” by fans.

Ian Levine said: “Speaking out as a disabled man in a wheelchair, I am highly offended by Russell T Davies’ claim to change Davros to no longer be in a wheelchair, for fear of offending people like me.

“What the hell comes next? Changing a Dalek for fear of offending a salt shaker? World gone mad.”

Rob Keeley added: “What’s offensive is treating all disabled people as the same, assuming we all automatically identify with one another.”

But the change to the character is here to stay, Russell vowed.

He said: “Davros used to look like that, and now he looks like this.

“We are absolutely standing by that."
