SKY has dropped a steamy trailer for its new period drama Mary & George.

The new historical show centres around Duke of Buckingham George Villiers, whose mum convinced him to seduce King James I.

He became one of the King's prominent male lovers, and then used the power to secure a position as one of his most trusted advisors in court.

Mary & George follows his rise to power, which was orchestrated by his scheming mum.

In the trailer the Countess of Buckingham, played by Julianne Moore, can be heard referring to her son as "subject to my rule".

When the young man asks his mother if she has a wife planned out for him, she cheekily hints at taking advantage of the King's sexuality instead.

Mary reveals her secret plans with the shocking statement: "he's so c**kstruck it's like a curse".

In the steamy preview provided by Sky, nobles can be seen engaging in spirited romps with the King.

One sneak peak shows the monarch blindfolded as several of his courtesans give him a passionate embrace.

Once George comes on the scene, he becomes one of the King's favourites, and the pair waste no time in getting down to business in front of a roaring fire.

Fans flocked to X to share their excitement for the new series, embracing Nicholas Galitzine's sexy character.

One exclaimed: "It's only a teaser trailer and he's with three different men already?! Love this for me."
