What happened to Rhona Goskirk in Emmerdale?

After trying to help her husband recover from his stroke, Rhona has been set for her own explosive storyline.

Scenes aired on Wednesday (November 15, 2023) showed the beloved character asking Ethan (played by Emile John) for legal advice during a conversation at Café Main Street.

On Monday, November 13, 2023, Rhona was astounded to find out that Gus Malcolms (Alan McKenna) had used her frozen embryos to build a family with his wife Lucy.

Rhona's husband Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) was the one tasked to break the news to her.

While she was initially fuming to realise Marlon had kept the truth from her for several weeks, Rhona eventually understood why he felt the need to protect her.

In late October, 2023, the Woolpack chef bumped into Gus and Lucy while at the hospital.

He was shocked to see a heavily pregnant Lucy struggle to explain how she and her husband had managed to conceive, which prompted the pair to come clean to him.

Marlon's discovery was uncovered in the wake of Craig Reed's death as Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) was trying to figure out who was responsible for his apparent murder.

Following Rhona's discussion with Ethan Anderson, many fans of the Yorkshire-based drama have speculated that she may try to get custody of Gus and Lucy's baby in future scenes.

This is due to the fact that Rhona had not given the couple her consent to use her embryos, despite extensive discussions about it earlier this year.

Unfortunately for her, Ethan warned Rhona that the process of taking Gus and Lucy to court for their transgression would be a difficult one as he also has his rights.

Who is Gus Malcolms in Emmerdale?

Rhona has given marriage a shot multiple times in the village as she not only tied the knot with Marlon but also his pal Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) in 2012.

Five years later, Rhona fell for Pierce Harris and walked down the aisle, completely unaware of how dangerous he really was.

Their marriage was cut short when Pierce did the unthinkable and raped his new bride before turning into a killer.

But before she met Paddy, Pierce or even Marlon, Rhona said "yes"; to a man named Gus Malcolms, her first ever husband.

Not much is known about Rhona and Gus' life together, prior to their lengthy and messy divorce.

Gus was finally introduced to viewers in April, 2023, when he first rocked up the eponymous ITV village to pay Rhona a visit.

However, Gus wasn't just trying to catch up with his ex-wife as he came to Emmerdale with a huge request and Rhona was asked to give him and his new wife Lucy her consent to use her frozen embryos.

Rhona considered it but after discussing the topic with her mother Mary (Louise Jameson) and Marlon, she realised she wouldn't be able to go through with the thought of handing over what she considered one of her own children to be raised by strangers.

Spoilers have confirmed that Rhona is due to confront the couple as they attempt to get away from all repercussions.

How will her conflict with Gus and Lucy be resolved?

Will she really drag them to court?
