Vernon Kay route tracker: Where is the BBC star’s ultramarathon for Children In Need?

The Radio 2 star has been running all over the country

VERNON Kay took on the biggest challenge of his life, when he signed up to run 115 miles for charity.

The kind-hearted Radio 2 presenter has been running an ultramarathon to bring in cash for the BBC's Children in Need.

Where is Vernon Kay running his ultramarathon for Children in Need

Vernon Kay kicked off his ultramarathon for the BBC's Children in Need at 9am on November 14, 2023.

The challenge started in Victoria Park in Leicester, and will end in the star's hometown of Bolton.

The ultramarathon is approximately 115 miles.

Speaking just before he set off, Vernon told his Radio 2 listeners: "I’m smiling because I’m trying to keep warm as it’s freezing in Leicester.

"I’ve been smiling all morning and now my smile is stuck to my face.

"To be honest I was excited last night, we had a big team dinner and a big meeting, and now I’m feeling really nervous, now I’m thinking have I done enough training for this epic challenge, I think I have. We’re about to find out!

"I’ve just been running. I’ve been doing my finest Forrest Gump impression.

"Lots of miles under the belt, different tempos.

"I’ve been doing long runs at a slow pace, short runs and a fast rate, and a fast run at a slow rate, and a long run at a fast pace.

" I’ve done lots of stretching, oh crikey. Do you remember that toy in the 70s and 80s Stretch Armstrong? I feel like that."

On day two of his challenge, Vernon revealed that he was "struggling with pain.

Speaking to his Radio 2 listeners he said: “The left leg's been alright it's the right leg that has been playing up.”

When does Vernon Kay's ultramarathon finish?

Vernon's four day challenge is set to finish around 9am TODAY (November 17, 2023), when he arrives at the Bolton Wanderers’ football stadium.
