After a tense final, one lucky star was crowned champion, after being named victorious on the notoriously hard reality show.

Who won Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins?

Gareth Gates won Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins after beating politician Matt Hancock.

The singer - who shot to fame first-ever Pop Idol final - triumphantly passed the gruelling course in the show's grand final (November 5, 2023).

After he was announced as winner, an emotional Gareth said: “Thank you, staff. Wow. Thank you.”

But he has since admitted he needed five weeks of therapy to get over his experience on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

“I had to have quite a bit of therapy afterwards and the show is great for that," he told the .

"When you come out, you’re checked over and I had about five weeks worth of counselling and therapy because it really, really did affect me."

Gareth previously revealed that the show helped him battle his speech impediment - and discovered that expletive-ridden rants are the key to speaking fluently.

He told The Sun: “Somebody had to take control because I was like, ‘I’m not losing this challenge’.

"I was screaming and out of nowhere I went from this stammering wreck to actually having a voice.

“Who knew shouting at people makes my stammer go away?”

Who was in the final stage of Celebrity SAS?

Alongside former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, Gareth came up against Love Island hunk Teddy Soares, model ­Danielle Lloyd and Team GB 400m star Perri Shakes-Drayton in the show's final.

In the Celebrity SAS finale, the last five competitors took part in a “resistance to interrogation” challenge, a key stage of SAS selection.

They were subjected to punishing interrogation techniques by a specialist team, including being held in extreme stress positions, while using a cover story that they were working for an animal welfare project called the Asian Saola Survey.

The final three at the end of the show were Danielle, Matt and Gareth, with the Pop Idol star winning.
