Helen Skelton’s new TV role revealed after leaving fans ‘gutted’ by quitting Channel 4 gig

THE BBC has commissioned an upcoming daytime series full of ‘suspense’, which Helen Skelton will host in 2024.
The Channel 4 presenter recently left fans “gutted” as she wrapped up her Super League Rugby anchor gig after two years.
The BBC has revealed that Helen will be heading to the Lake District with a team of experts for a new BBC One series that sees members of the public reunited with their precious lost items they feared were long gone.
Lost and Found in the Lakes was created by North Wales company Ty’r Ddraig (Banijay UK’s Workerbee Group label) and consists of fifteen episodes, which are 30 minutes long.
Speaking about her new role, the 40-year-old said: “Thrilled to be part of this series filmed in my beloved Lake District.
“It’s a chance to showcase the area’s natural beauty and by reuniting people with their lost treasures we have a chance to share some heart-warming stories.”
With the help of a team of experts, including divers, detectorists and magnet fishers, the mother-of-two will work to uncover all lost items dispersed around the magical lake beds and stunning forests in the area.
Set to air in 2024, the series captures the emotional response and suspense of finding the lost assets.
Lost and Found in the Lakes will dig deep by talking to the people who have a close connection to both the area and the items lost.
Ultimately, the goal for Helen and the team of experts is to take what they find back to base, either to reunite them with their delighted owners or to start figuring out who the items might belong to.
For the mission to be successful and items to be returned to their rightful owners, the group will call on a team of specialist social media detectives.
The online detectives will take it upon themselves to create online campaigns promoting the findings of the search in order to help reunite them with their owners.
Some items that have yet to be claimed will be revamped by one of the area’s talented craftspeople.
Executive Producer at Ty’r Ddraig spoke on the upcoming series and expressed: “It is amazing to be able to use the beautiful location of the Lakes as the backdrop for our series. We brought some very talented people on board to help Helen clean up and restore the items found across the Lakes and surrounding areas, including some retrieved from the lake beds.
“I think viewers are in for a treat as the series combines beautiful scenery, wonderful craftsmanship, touching human stories, and the suspense of whether the much loved items will be found by the team or not.”
