Thank you for all of your kind words and messages. On Wednesday last week during my training session for Dancing on Ice I fell and broke my left ankle. I’ve had surgery and will be on crutches for a few months meaning, I’ve had to leave the competition which I’m absolutely gutted about. I was having so much fun and enjoying learning to skate. I will of course be keeping a close eye on all of the other celebs and pros and supporting them all the way. Unfortunately, I will also have to pull out of the London Marathon. I’m doing my best to keep my spirits up and will hopefully be back on my feet again very soon.

The reality star and hairdresser is said to have suffered a "freak accident" during rehearsals which landed him with the injury which means he'll be on crutches for "three months".

A source told the : "Stephen is devastated… he is absolutely gutted.

More on Dancing on Ice

"He was loving training but while turning on his skates he snapped his ankle and was rushed to hospital.

"After two days and an operation to put metal plates into his left ankle, medics informed him that there wasn't a chance he could return to training, so he had no other option but to pull out of the competition."

Yesterday The Sun exclusively revealed Eddie had signed up to replace Stephen on the ice.

Eddie - real name Michael Edwards - became the first ever competitor to represent Team GB in ski jumping in 1988.

Stephen was announced for the upcoming series of Dancing on Ice just weeks after quitting Gogglebox along with husband Daniel Lustwig.

In a joint statement they said: "After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox.

"We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities."
