Dawson’s Creek fans furious after being ‘fooled’ for 25 years by ‘special effects’ on hit show
LOYAL Dawson's Creek fans have been left unimpressed by a TV effects trick in one of the special episodes.
The hit show ran from 1998 to 2003 but has been available on multiple streaming services over the past two decades including ITV and Netflix.
Dawson's Creek viewers have spoken out after feeling 'fooled' for 25 years after a dedicated fan exposed 'special effects' put in place by show bosses.
The series, which ran for six seasons, followed the lives of a group of best friends who were students at Capeside High School.
This year, the show celebrated its 25th anniversary and viewers have stated their 'day's ruined' after they clocked that artificial snow in the Christmas episode Merry Mayhem was, in reality, a white blanket.
Fans who had watched the original instalment when it first aired in 2002 believed it was fake snow.

Two decades later, show fans have blamed the advancement of technology and 4k television for revealing the truth.
Under a close-up clip of the scene in season six, episode 10 shared on Instagram, fans penned their disappointment at the trickery.
The caption for the clip reads: "Dawson's Creek really had no budget for snow."
Dawson Creek fans rushed to the comment section as one teased: "Watching a show in the 90s on a standard definition 19 inch TV allowed networks to get away with being cheap”

Another added: "Omg. They just threw a blanket on the ground and called it a day."
Another user mentioned the use of the slippery material and shared concern that there would have been 'several rolled ankles' during filming.
Earlier this year, some of the cast from the show, including Katie Holmes, who played Joey Potter, celebrated the show's 25th anniversary on social media.
Alongside several throwback photos of the cast, including James Van Der Beek and Michelle Williams, she wrote: "Happy 25th. I loved growing up with everyone and experiencing some really beautiful times. Thank you to all of the fans of Dawson's Creek.
Taking to his own Instagram, James, 46, who portrayed the main character Dawson Leery, shared an old character portrait and a heartfelt tribute about the show's impact on his life.
He wrote: "25 years ago today… my life changed. Not gradually, not day-by-day… instantly.
"It was the culmination of 5 years of auditioning, hundreds of hours on stage, thousands of hours travelling, preparing, dreaming, hoping, hearing "no", and making up reasons to keep going. But the shift was overnight."
The former Dancing With The Stars contestant revealed how fame wasn't all it seemed but noted that he did have 'pinch myself' moments regardless.

Earlier this year, Katie spoke toand confirmed that there had been "discussions" about a reboot but added that it might not work well in the modern era.
